Agency-Wide Transportation Management Software & Intelligent Transportation System for The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
Read moreRead more- Kapsch was chosen to design, build and support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Next Generation Agency-Wide Transportation Management Software. The contract consists of a two-year installation phase and a two-year maintenance phase base term followed by one additional two-year optional maintenance period.
- Kapsch successfully merged 21 independent traffic and facility management data systems into a single enterprise DYNAC-based ATMS managing the Authority’s vital “Gateways to the Nation” transportation assets including the George Washington, Bayonne, and Goethals Bridges & Outerbridge Crossing, Lincoln & Holland Tunnels, LaGuardia, JFK International & Newark Liberty International Airports and the Port Newark- Elizabeth Marine Terminal.
FDOT District 6 Keys COAST Project
The unique geography of the Florida Keys and its role as a vital evacuation route present distinct challenges in ensuring optimal safety and smooth traffic flow for all road users. Traditional infrastructure solutions often lack the dynamic, real-time management capabilities needed for diverse traffic scenarios, emergency response, and proactive safety measures.
The emergence of Connected Vehicle (CV) technology offers a powerful solution. By integrating advanced communication systems with existing infrastructure, FDOT can develop a "smart corridor." This allows for real-time information delivery, prioritization of essential services, and active prevention of collisions, all while improving overall traffic flow.
- Key Enabler: Kapsch's CV solution including Kapsch RSUs communicating with up to 250 third-party OBU, Connected Mobility Control Center (CMCC) for monitoring and managing CV infrastructure and Kapsch’s network-V2X mobile application for managing safety-awareness use cases.
- Key Use Cases: Freight Signal Priority, Emergency Vehicle Preemption, Transit Signal Priority, Drawbridge Alerts, Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety, Vehicle-to-Vehicle Safety, Weigh Station Alerts.
- 100+ mile stretch of US 1
Upgrade Toll Collection Equipment on Maryland Roads
The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) has awarded Kapsch TrafficCom a contract to replace and maintain all roadside tolling equipment in the mixed-mode, cash, and express toll lanes under MDTA management. The contract includes hardware upgrades at all MDTA bridge and tunnel facilities, including the iconic William Preston Lane Memorial Bay Bridge and the Fort McHenry Tunnel, as well as along the Intercounty Connector/MD 200 and I-95 Express Lanes.
The new roadside equipment will include RFID toll readers, automated license place recognition (ALPR) cameras, and scanners in the mixed-mode lanes. In addition, Kapsch will install its groundbreaking stereoscopic Vehicle Detection and Classification sensor (nVDC) in the all-electronic toll (AET) lanes.
RCTC I-15 Express Lanes System, Riverside County
Kapsch TrafficCom was chosen by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) to deliver the on-road toll systems for two tolled Express Lanes.
The 15 Express Lanes cover 15 miles in each direction on I-15 in Riverside County, California, between Eastvale/Jurupa Valley to Corona and the 91 Express Lanes cover 10 miles in each direction on SR-91 between the Orange/Riverside County line and the I-15.The Kapsch TrafficCom solution is based on an end-to-end All Electronic Tolling Express Lanes system and delivered:

Tolling and Managed Lane Solution in Texas
The LBJ Express, NTE Express and NTE 35W Express project encompasses 36.7 miles of expanded frontage lanes, general purpose lanes, and TEXpress managed lanes across north Dallas and Fort Worth.
These dynamically-priced toll lanes are intended to ensure a minimum predictable driving speed of 50 mph to drivers who elect to pay for expedited travel. The project also includes a lower section of approximately five miles through north Dallas, where the tolled managed lanes run under the general purpose lanes in an open tunnel.
Design, install, and implement the field systems as a key piece of a fully integrated managed lanes system for three projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The field systems include the Toll Collection System (TCS), an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and a fully redundant Network Communication System (NCS) used to manage all toll and traffic operations in real-time.
