Who we are
Kapsch TrafficCom USA, Inc. (Kapsch) is a Kapsch Group company, a global organization with legal entities, business processes, management structures, and technical systems that cross borders. Our privacy practices are designed to protect your personal information all over the world. When we do so, we are regulated under the United States and relevant international Privacy Laws, and we are responsible as controller of that personal information for those laws.
Purpose of the Kapsch Traffic Assist Android App
The Kapsch Traffic Assist Android app provides you with real time location based traffic messages. Data collected by the App is randomized, stored and analyzed to provide better understanding on mobility patterns, travel time, and road network performance. It is mandatory to follow the country's regulation and traffic rules. Information provided by the App is only advisory. The app/device shall not be set up to block the driver's view. The app shall not be operated while driving.
We do not engage other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf to provide our Services.
Information the App collects
This App is part of a system that processes and collects location and movement data in an pseudonymized way. We collect information about you and your use of our service, your interactions with us, as well as information regarding your mobile phone, or another device, used to access our service. The App also collects and stores the information you provide to us such as your settings choice for message relevance area and your vehicle type.
The App collects, processes, and stores the following personal or sensitive information:
- Authentication information includes a randomized device ID,
- Trip activity – messages displayed on the device,
- Trip activity – speed and precise or approximate device location, and
- Trip activity – time of device operation – time stamp,
The App collects and processes trip activity data when it is actively running on your device. When the App is turned off, it does not collect and process your data.
Trip activity data is collected and processed in an pseudonymized way and is used to determine which messages are sent to you based on your device location and relevance area. The App logs the timestamp of successfully displayed traffic messages. None of the above information is sold.
Kapsch shares the anonymized trip activity data with your Transportation Authority.
The App does NOT receive, collect, process, store, sell, nor share the following personal or sensitive information:
- Your name and contact information,
- Financial and payment information,
- Your phone or contact book data,
- Inventory of other installed apps on your device,
- Device messages – emails, SMS, MMS
- Photos, videos, files and documents,
- Your health and fitness data, and
- Web browsing.
Children
The App is not targeted to children. You must be 16 years of age or older to subscribe to the App. In certain jurisdictions, the age of the majority may be older or younger than 16; in which case, you must satisfy that age to download or utilize the App.
Your Data Protection Rights
The App only works if consent is given.

We may reject requests that are unreasonable or not required by law, including those that would be extremely impractical, could require disproportionate technical effort, or could expose us to operational risks.
Changes to this Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement will be updated from time to time in response to changing legal, regulatory, or operational requirements. We will notify any such changes (including when they will take effect) under the law.
