Markus Russold
Markus Russold joined Kapsch TrafficCom in 2002 and has spent his career with the company inside its tolling business — first in programme management for electronic toll collection, delivering systems for road operators over more than a decade, and since then in global roles spanning solution design and commercial strategy. That route from delivery into design shapes how he works: what a tolling scheme looks like on paper matters less than whether it can be built, operated and enforced.
As VP Global Sales Enablement Tolling, he is responsible for global solution design, sales enablement and strategic business support across the tolling portfolio. The role sits between the technical and the commercial — working with product management, engineering and commercial teams to translate what road authorities and operators actually need into solutions that can be delivered, and giving the teams who take those solutions to market the substance to position them credibly.
He represents that work publicly as well, presenting Kapsch TrafficCom's Holistic Toll Capture (HoTCap) approach to AI-driven, end-to-end tolling at Intertraffic Amsterdam and at industry conferences internationally.
His articles cover electronic toll collection, multi-lane free flow, location-based charging, and the operational and enforcement realities of road user charging schemes worldwide.
