As a family-owned company founded in 1892 and headquartered in Vienna, Kapsch can look back on 130 years of experience with the future.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Software System Architect to join our team. In this role, you will design, guide, and oversee the development of complex software systems that meet our business and technical objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure architectural consistency, scalability, and quality across our solutions, applying agile principles and frameworks—particularly SAFe—to drive alignment and delivery.

Your Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain end-to-end software architecture for large-scale systems.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into well-structured architectural designs.
  • Lead architecture reviews, evaluate solution options, and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Support and mentor development teams in implementing architectural standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, technology evaluations, and architectural governance.
  • Champion agile methodologies and the SAFe framework across teams.
  • Ensure that systems are secure, performant, maintainable, and scalable.
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in software engineering and architecture roles.
  • Strong knowledge of modern architectural patterns, including microservices, cloud-native solutions, and integration strategies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., SAFe Architect, TOGAF, AWS/Azure certifications) are a plus.
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering complex software systems.
  • Proficiency in agile development practices
  • SAFe System Architect certification is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Our Offer

  • A unique corporate culture rooted in family tradition since 1892, fostering personal growth, satisfaction, and achievement
  • Global market leadership in large-scale tolling and traffic management systems, with strong investment in green and sustainable technologies
  • Be part of a forward-thinking team that values innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Grow your skills in an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative atmosphere.
  • A hands-on onboarding with an experienced team to get familiar with the business and domain-related processes
  • Social benefits of a modern company, e.g. Homeoffice, mobile devices, flexible working hours, operating restaurants, meal discount, bridge day regulation, bicycle leasing etc.
  • A market compliant gross salary of EUR 65.000 p.a. based on a full-time employment, which can be adapted according to your qualifications and your job experience
  • Start date: as soon as possible, full-time position
  • Location: Vienna
