The Operations Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the TMC with internal and external partners including NYSDOT maintenance, construction, traffic, emergency service providers, transit, and other State and local agencies. The TMC Operations Manager shall oversee the Consultant staff located at TMC and have office space at the TMC on a 24/7/365 basis.

Your responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations on a 24x7x365 basis, ensuring efficient service delivery and operational continuity

  • Act as the primary liaison with NYSDOT, emergency services, transit agencies, and other internal and external stakeholders

  • Manage contract administration, operational performance, KPIs, and compliance with service requirements

  • Lead and supervise TMC staff and subcontractors, including staffing coordination, performance oversight, and quality assurance activities

  • Monitor operational data, reporting, and system performance to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement

  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, training programs, and best practices to support TMC operations

  • Coordinate incident response, operational support activities, and cross-functional communication across teams and partners

  • Support transition and implementation activities, ensuring service continuity and adherence to operational and safety standards

Your Profile:

  • Experience in TMC, traffic, or dispatch operations within sectors such as military, transportation, fire, police, EMS, or 911

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Operations Manager role or similar, or at least 7 years of relevant full-time experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collaboratively with clients

  • Extensive experience overseeing and managing operations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office, spreadsheets, and databases

  • Experience supervising and training teams of at least 15 employees, with the ability to manage operations on a 24/7 basis and respond to critical situations

  • Proven experience reviewing, developing, and updating procedures and protocols

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Data analytics - including, systems and data evaluation.  

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to get along with others in an organizational structure and team environment.  

  • Ability to cope with stress and perform in a cooperative team environment with the Client.
