As a Traffic Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing traffic engineering solutions with moderate supervision, demonstrating technical expertise and the ability to work independently on defined assignments. You will contribute to the design, analysis, delivery and optimization of traffic systems, supporting both project delivery and innovation in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
Key Responsibilities
Execute traffic engineering studies, designs, and analyses, including intersection design, traffic flow modeling, and safety assessments.
Develop and validate traffic signal plans and adaptive control strategies, ensuring efficiency and compliance with regulations.
Contribute to the integration of ITS solutions such as adaptive traffic control, traffic sensors, C-ITS applications, and low-emission zone management.
Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation to support proposals and ongoing projects.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment of traffic engineering solutions with broader mobility goals.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation in traffic and mobility management.
Requirements:
- Technical university degree
- Experience in urban traffic engineering
- Hands-on experience with microsimulation tools such as TRANSYT, Aimsun, or PTV Vissim
- Basic programming skills, preferably in Python
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to manage evolving expectations
- Skilled at documenting requirements, decisions, and changes clearly
- Excellent listener with a structured, detail-oriented mindset
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to change
- Residence or interest in relocation to Sharjah. This is a primarly onsite role
