Traffic Management Center Supervisor
Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a proactive and skilled individual to join our Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations team as a full-time TMC Shift Supervisor at the St. Louis Gateway Guide TMC, located in Chesterfield, MO (14301 S. Outer Forty Rd., Chesterfield, MO). This leadership role is critical in ensuring smooth and effective traffic management operations to enhance public safety and mobility.
Position Overview:
The TMC Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily TMC operations, managing a team of TMC operators, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate has experience in traffic management, incident response, or a related field, along with strong leadership and communication skills.
While experience in traffic management operations is preferred, we are open to candidates with proven supervisory and people management experience who demonstrate the ability to quickly learn TMC procedures and software tools. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including law enforcement, first-responder dispatching, traffic engineering, or supervisory roles in technology or process-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise TMC operators, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality operations.
- Ensure compliance with Traffic Incident Management (TIM) procedures, coordinating effectively with TMC partners and first responders.
- Oversee traffic monitoring, incident detection, and response activities using advanced traffic management software and surveillance tools.
- Prepare reports and analyze operational performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Create and deliver training programs and documentation for TMC operators.
- Act decisively in emergency or unexpected situations to ensure safety and efficient incident management.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, external partners, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in traffic management, public safety, dispatch, or a supervisory/leadership role.
- Understanding of traffic management systems, software applications, and incident management principles.
- Proven ability to lead teams, foster a collaborative environment, and drive operational excellence.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
Schedule:
The Gateway Guide TMC operates 24/7/365. This position works the PM shift (1:00 PM – 10:30 PM) on a 4-day-per-week, 10-hour-per-day schedule.
