Are you passionate about transforming urban mobility through cutting-edge technology? At Kapsch, we are looking for a Senior Traffic Systems Engineer to lead the design, modelling, and implementation of traffic solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and performance across urban networks in the APAC region.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end traffic system projects, including design, configuration, testing, implementation, and upgrades.

  • Integrate Kapsch software with SCATS systems and optimise urban traffic network performance.

  • Collaborate with Global Application Centers to review and improve system designs.

  • Coordinate engineering activities, supervise contractors, and engage directly with customers.

  • Manage technical issues and project reporting across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and execute system testing, training materials, and operator training.

  • Support design documentation and resource estimation for customer proposals.

  • Participate in project scoping and cross-functional resource planning.

  • Maintain strong technical skills in Linux, networking, scripting, databases, and Microsoft tools.

  • Ensure compliance with engineering and HSSEQ standards, while driving process improvements.

  • Deliver technical presentations, represent company interests, and identify opportunities for innovation.

Your profile:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

  • + 5 years of experience in traffic engineering, with a strong focus on urban traffic management.

  • Proven experience with SCATS configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and integration with third-party systems.

  • Experience working in the APAC region, with knowledge of Australian traffic engineering standards and local council regulations.

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, serial communication, and ITS network protocols.

  • Experience with traffic simulation tools such as Aimsun, SIDRA, or VISSIM.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Python for traffic data analysis and performance insights.

  • Knowledge of secure access protocols, user authentication, and system hardening practices.

  • Valid Australian driver’s license.
