Highway traffic management.

Safety is especially important on roads built for high-speed traffic. The more detailed the information that can be provided to drivers on roadside electronic message signs or, in the future on in-vehicle displays, the safer motorists are while driving. Whether warning drivers of traffic congestion, suggesting alternate routes, or aiding in the flow of traffic by dynamically adjusting speed limits – our solutions benefit drivers by reducing their travel time while simultaneously improving their safety. Road operators also benefit from the ability to efficiently respond to changes in traffic conditions and manage incidents quickly and effectively, all from a central location.

Highway 6 in Israel and the New Zealand State Highway.

The Cross Israel Highway is one of the country’s major traffic arteries. It was mostly funded by private investors. We installed a traffic management system in addition to the existing electronic toll collection system that is designed to monitor traffic in real time, identify traffic accidents and congestion, and execute traffic control measures.

New Zealand’s entire highway network is monitored and controlled using an Advanced Traffic Management (ATM) solution from Kapsch. The information recorded by video systems for identifying traffic disruptions and by radar systems for measuring vehicle speed is fed, along with weather data, into management centers in Auckland and Wellington. Dynamic road signs are controlled via our DYNAC® software. In addition, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) also makes use of mobile barriers to regulate traffic flows and help avoid congestion. The processed data is also available on a website from which drivers can view information on current traffic conditions.
