Vienna, March 10, 2015 – One of the most important trade shows for Alpine technologies is Interalpin, where in 2015, Kapsch BusinessCom will be presenting a comprehensive digital solution to benefit skiers, tourist offices, and local business owners alike. Kapsch has already implemented pilot projects at six ski resorts to offer a preliminary glimpse of the new experience available to both winter and summer tourists through its networking solutions. Everything from current waiting times at ski lifts and cable cars, weather updates, and special offers from local businesses is available via the network, which creates the basis for improved services, multimedia entertainment, and added safety.
Recent months have seen the implementation of pilot projects at a total of six ski resorts, with technology from Kapsch already in use at Lech am Arlberg (Vorarlberg), Obergurgl, Fieberbrunn, Hochsöll, Patscherkofel, Waidring (all in Tyrol), and Reit im Winkl (Bavaria). At Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, a photo point solution will soon be available. The most visible elements of the solutions provided by Kapsch are large, digital panorama panels and
As a provider of comprehensive solutions in the hotel industry, Kapsch is offering panorama cameras, digital indoor and outdoor solutions, photo points (including in gondolas), WLAN, and microwave radio solutions. Kapsch BusinessCom, one of the leading ICT service partners in Austria and the CEE region, entered into a partnership with
Each of the display solutions is put together from different modules and managed via a central software program. In addition to panorama screens, smaller monitors, and LED walls, the building blocks include interactive terminals for visitors, diverse sensors to measure time and status, systems for analyzing visitor flows and, upon request, video monitoring. Using wireless technology and/or the Internet, the individual elements are linked to a central system via which the content is distributed. Customer service, marketing, and security are combined in centrally managed, comprehensive solutions which ensure that the relevant information always ends up right where it needs to be. Modern emergency stations with inbuilt defibrillators not only bring added safety. They also offer options to add further services (such as charging stations for cell phones). “All of our solutions consist of high-quality components that conform with industry standards. Our core competency is in the integration of technologies, especially infrastructure development and operation. We work together with selected partners to implement creative solutions, prepare content, and market advertising space,” continues Retinger. To be able to handle projects of this magnitude, it’s necessary to have an accordingly large number of experts on location. Kapsch employs 450 technicians at a total of seven locations in Austria for this purpose. The specific reference projects will be presented at Interalpin. Kapsch’s main focus, however, will be to demonstrate the additional possibilities that digitalization and networking have in Alpine tourist regions.
