Kapsch BusinessCom at INTERALPIN 2017: digital networking solutions for ski resorts

Kapsch BusinessCom will present its digital solutions for ski resorts including a live demonstration of EVOSKI piste navigation at the INTERALPIN trade show in Innsbruck. From Digital Signage as a Service to new LED-based information systems, Kapsch BusinessCom has already implemented a number of projects for tourist regions and has successfully positioned itself as a provider of End-to-End solutions in this area.

Vienna, April 19, 2017 – Kapsch BusinessCom will present its comprehensive range of digital solutions for local business owners, tourist offices, and skiers at INTERALPIN 2017, the leading trade show for Alpine technologies, from April 26 to 28, 2017 at Booth A18 in Hall A. Alongside solutions such as Digital Signage as a Service, Kapsch will hold live demonstrations to showcase the EVOSKI Ski Navigation app from EVOLARIS for the first time. Skiers can use the piste navigation system to find a favorite hut nearby or a specific ski lift, just like in a car. Routes can either be planned in advance or spontaneously from the piste. The EVOSKI app has been available at all 25 Ski amadé resorts (Salzburg and Styria) since this winter, where it can be displayed directly in smart skiing goggles. End-to-End solution

Digital Signage as a Service is a comprehensive solution for the latest indoor and outdoor information systems from Kapsch BusinessCom. It includes everything from planning to custom project development, hardware and software, assembly, installation, commissioning, service and maintenance concepts, as well as financing through to technical and editorial content management – all from a single source. “We believe that close cooperation with our customers over the course of the entire project is key. Well-informed on the piste

Kapsch has now implemented a number of digitalization projects for ski regions in Tyrol (e.g., Hochfügen, Hochsöll, Galtür, Alpbach), Vorarlberg (e.g., Lech am Arlberg, Pfänderbahn, Brandnertal), and Salzburg (Obertauern). “Everything from current waiting times at ski lifts and cable cars, weather updates, and special offers from local businesses is available via the network, which creates the basis for improved services, multimedia entertainment, and added safety,” explains Christian-Thomas Retinger. Guests at the Hochfügen ski resort, for instance, are always well-informed on the piste thanks to the comprehensive End-to-End information system – Digital Signage as a Service.

In Brandnertal, lift users now also benefit from a new LED-based information system from Kapsch, which was installed only recently. The content for the seven new digital information systems is fed into the system centrally from the station in the valley. Operations managers or lift workers can submit live reports such as avalanche warnings within minutes via a simple web interface. The displays of the information system are based on LED technology. “The advantage of this is that the fully graphics-enabled LED ticker displays are 14 times brighter than a desktop monitor, so they are easy to read even in direct sunlight. At the same time, LED solutions are extremely energy efficient and weather resistant, whether it is minus 20 or plus 60 degrees Celsius,” says Christian-Thomas Retinger.
