Kapsch TrafficCom develops smart solutions to make mobility safer, more sustainable and efficient for everybody. We design, build and operate traffic management systems including connected vehicles technology and mobility demand management as well as tolling services for cities, roads, tunnels and bridges around the world. We develop data and video analytics platforms, building on state-of-the-art technologies including AI, machine learning, big data and cloud services to enable the digitalization of mobility.
The Role:
The TMC Operator will monitor all active traffic events that occur during the shift and ensure that the information is entered correctly into systems and provide traffic related messages to drivers.
Responsibilities:
Creates and posts of messages for the Variable Message Signs (VMS)
Composes and posts information on the 511 traveler information system
Assess traffic status, special events, scheduled events, active events, and incident fault status by utilizing CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras, Service Patrol reports, State Police reports, internal systems, etc.
Communicates with emergency services such as state and local police, emergency communications centers, highway helpers, maintenance departments, and media outlets
Facilitates incident management which includes: detection, verification, response, notification
Activates various message signs and incident reporting
Enters related data into Access Database
Troubleshooting and resolving system related problems
Coordinates with other operations staff with regards to various agencies and general control room coordination especially at shift change
Assists with the data collection for various reports, travel speed and travel time reports, incident reports, field equipment failures, and any other reports that are provided by the Traffic Operations Center
What we are looking for:
High School Diploma or other educational certification
Candidates with at least a year of experience dispatching police, fire, other emergency personnel or freight are preferred
Experience in a call center environment can also be considered
Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is desirable

Job retention bonus: $500 for first certification 3-6 months
