Kapsch TrafficCom develops smart solutions to make mobility safer, more sustainable and efficient for everybody. We design, build and operate traffic management systems including connected vehicles technology and mobility demand management as well as tolling services for cities, roads, tunnels and bridges around the world. We develop data and video analytics platforms, building on state-of-the-art technologies including AI, machine learning, big data and cloud services to enable the digitalization of mobility.
As a key member of the local management team in a matrixed organization, the Director, HR-NAM reports to the EVP, Human Resources at the Kapsch Group, who is located at parent company headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and is a key partner and advisor to the Region Head of North America as well as the broader team in the region. The candidate will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the business in North America (US & Canada) and will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all human resources related activities of the company’s subsidiaries in the US and Canada. This includes the local adoption and roll-out of the global people strategy, running HR operations and advising the senior leadership team on all HR-related matters.
The role will directly lead a team of ~9 people and will be supported by a centralized team of HR professionals who have specialized in particular disciplines (Travel & International Assignments, Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, Career Mobility, Learning and Workday HR-IT).
Ensure efficient HR tools and processes within the assigned organizational unit(s)
Act as main point of contact for the global/regional management, provide advisory and guidance in operative and strategic HR matters
Implement global HR initiatives and manage complex HR projects cross-functionally
Develop, implement, and monitor regional HR policies and concepts - involving the global Centers of Expertise
Subject matter expert on employee relations and organizational development practices
Encourages and fosters an inclusive and diverse culture that creates a positive environment that unleashes the full potential of our workforce
Demonstrates the qualities of a servant leader (in alignment with the Kapsch Servant Leadership Philosophy) in all interactions and decisions
Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to the global/regional management and global HR
Proactively drive the roll-out of additional functionalities of KTC’s global HCM Suite (Workday) within the NAM region
Support group-wide projects of particular importance, e.g. M&A, downsizing, organizational development
Provide leadership to the NAM HR team (~9 employees) with a focus on enriching professional skills generally across the function and offering opportunities/experience for individual growth
Work closely with senior management within specific region to develop and implement predominately medium to long-term HR solutions aligned to business strategy

What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or another relevant discipline
Minimum of 5 years in HR leadership position, ideally in generalist roles at international companies with HQ outside of the United States
Advanced communication skills
Quick thinker who brings new ideas to the table; humorous and empathic personality
Ability to cover the full scope of HR tasks, from strategic multi-year programs to daily operative tasks.
Change leadership experience
Technology literate with a digital mindset
English on native / bilingual proficiency
