Full-Time Traffic Management Center Operator
LA Statewide / Baton Rouge Regional Traffic Management Centers (TMC)
Kapsch TrafficCom currently has an outstanding opportunity in the exciting and growing field in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). We are seeking a passionate and professional individual to fill the role for a full-time TMC Operator with the Baton Rouge Regional & LA Statewide Traffic Management Centers (TMC).
The current opening will have weekly shifts split between the LA Statewide TMC located next to LADOTD Headquarters; 1212 E. Highway, Baton Rouge, & the Baton Rouge Regional TMC which is located at 3773 Harding Blvd, Baton Rouge.
The current shift is full-time (40 hrs/week); exact days and shift times TBD. Starting pay at $15.50 hr. along with eligibility to participate in Kapsch’s comprehensive benefit package.
Job Responsibilities & Duties:
The work involves monitoring Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices located along local State & Federal Highways. The TMC is responsible for collecting and disseminating traveler information for real-time roadway conditions, dispatching and coordinating traffic incident management processes with the Motorist Assistance Patrol (MAP), First Responder Agencies and Local DOTD personnel.
· Monitor traffic flow utilizing ITS devices and applicable software
· Detect and verify on-going traffic incidents
· Initiate and coordinate incident management process with First Responder agencies
· Radio dispatch with Emergency Response Operators
· Quickly enter real-time information in applicable databases and email
· Communicate and work effectively with co-workers and partners in stressful real-time situations
High School diploma is a must and a college degree are preferred or relatable job experience
· The ideal candidate will have specialized experience and subject matter knowledge of the following though no prior TMC / ITS work experience is required:
· Prior work experience in a professional setting
· In-depth experience with Windows PCs and proficient in the use of a multi-monitor-computer workstation with the ability to quickly enter and manage a real-time data entry
· Knowledge of Louisiana geography with a focus on the layout of the Statewide roadway system
· Ability to multi-task in fast pace situations
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to pass a stringent background and past employer reference checks
