The first television set developed by Kapsch entered retail stores in 1958. It scored with its quality, as stated in the advertising: ‘The clear image and first-class sound reproduction make watching television on the Kapsch standing television set a unique experience.‘
This system was used by Telekom Austria up until the year 2000 – in the last telephone exchange at Vienna/Hetzendorf. The components shown were originally located in a so-called container office.
This luxury stereo distinguished itself through its excellent performance, a state-of-the-art silicon transistor technology and an elegant flat shape. Both speakers featured a specially developed pressure chamber with particularly good sound reproduction quality.
This television set was specifically developed for the Austrian market. Focus was placed on offsetting the impaired reception conditions present throughout the country. Therefore, particular emphasis was placed on high-performance synchronization devices which stabilized the image. The device weighed 39 kg.
The subscriber bay provided 1,280 telephone customers with the required connections. The subscriber and communication cables were located on one side, while the system cables leading to all technical devices were located on the other. This bay type was used by Telekom Austria until 2013 and was replaced by the AIPS (Advanced Internet Protocol Solution) provided by Kapsch CarrierCom.
