The Role:

The Lead System Engineer will oversee technical teams and provide technical project management on Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), Traffic Management Systems and Back Office System projects to drive collaboration across distributed locations and stakeholders. The Lead System Engineer will provide end-to-end leadership during the bid, design, planning, presentation, and implementation phases of projects.


  • Overall technical responsibility for the solution within the scope of the project

  • Requirements engineering and preparation of specifications and system processes

  • Performing Business Analysis and optimization of customer ETC/ITS business processes and architectures

  • Defining the Scope of Work and technical coordination of internal development teams and sub-contractors

  • Becoming the technical interface with the costumer

  • Interfacing and coordinating tasks between internal and external technical resources

  • Coordinating efforts between developers, infrastructure, operations and project management to ensure proper implementation

  • Collaborating with Project Managers to provide estimations and develop an overall implementation solution plan

  • Translate requirements into functional specs

  • Travel in this role is estimated to be 10% to 30% domestically

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, software architecture, computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, telematics

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering in a professional environment

  • Experience with software engineering team management

  • Experience in Requirement engineering; Agile development; testing; integration management and hardware and software project delivery

  • Candidates must have an understanding of enterprise software design principles – architecture, design patterns, OOP, and a history of delivering complex, enterprise-grade systems correctly, on time, and on budget

  • Passion to drive collaboration and deliver high-quality, highly-complex projects across distributed teams

  • Structured and solution-oriented

  • Excellent oral and written English communication

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel

Our top Candidates will have:

  • Masters degree

  • 7+ years system engineering experience in a professional environment

  • Experience in electronic toll collection or telematics

  • Fluent in German
