Press release

Kapsch BusinessCom acquires 100% of artificial intelligence specialist AIMC.

Kapsch BusinessCom is expanding its digitalization expertise with the complete integration of the former subsidiary Advanced Information Management Consulting GmbH (AIMC) and bundling its data science know-how in a new, separate business unit.

Vienna, April 1, 2019 – Since the beginning of 2019, Advanced Information Management Consulting GmbH (AIMC) has been merged completely with Kapsch BusinessCom. In recent years, the digitalization expert has focused increasingly on the topics of Big Data, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, and implemented trendsetting projects. In February 2017, the course was set for this development with the investment in AIMC.

The AI and data analytics competencies will be bundled in a new business unit at Kapsch. The seven data science specialists at AIMC bring to the new team knowledge that they have already been able to demonstrate in various projects in the areas of industry, insurance, and health care. The unit’s core goal is to increase companies’ efficiency. To achieve this, the experts translate the information from companies’ large, usually existing data stocks and derive recommendations for action from this. In particular, they focus on content analytics, predictive analytics, and image analytics.

AI and machine learning: the simplification of decision-making processes

“It is important to demystify the topics of artificial intelligence and machine learning and to translate them into profitable applications,” this is how the new business unit manager Sinan Tankaz explains his task. “For the first time, we have our own business unit that bundles AI knowledge and can transfer our expertise into concrete use cases more quickly.” In practice, the experts work with customers on specific questions that can be solved using machine learning. In the process, they work with large quantities of data from a wide variety of sources; this data is analyzed with algorithms, which makes anomalies in standard processes visible and quantifiable all of a sudden. “In the health care sector, this could be interactions of prescribed medications, for example,” adds Tankaz. This provides companies with transparency and clarity for actions and decision-making.

Many practical examples reveal the particular benefits of the technologies. With predictive quality, components in Austrian industry can be analyzed for their future practical suitability even before they leave the production line. Customer concerns are analyzed, understood, and the necessary transactions initiated automatically without an employee having to intervene. Cross-selling and recommender systems predict customer desires and increase sales in online shops and fast-food restaurants. Fraud detection models detect fraud attempts in real time. The use of machine learning in the health care sector will revolutionize processes, diagnoses, and treatment possibilities.

“In fact, there are endless application possibilities for AI in daily life and for our customers. These are frequently far from typical AI associations such as robots and cyborgs. The focus is on image, text, and language detection, process optimization, reduction of scrap, quality increase, and much more – that’s what makes this job so exciting and varied,” says Sinan Tankaz enthusiastically.
