Traffic Management Center Supervisor

Kapsch TrafficCom currently has an opening to join our Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations staff as a full-time TMC Shift-Supervisor at the St. Louis Gateway Guide TMC.

Gateway Guide is located at 14301 S. Outer Forty Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017.

The supervisor has the responsibility for managing and supervising the TMC operator staff and will report directly to the Kapsch Project Manager. The supervisor position requires an advanced in-depth knowledge and skills in the execution of TMC standard operating procedures and a variety of software and information systems along with guiding and directing TMC operators to ensure they follow the specific standard operating procedures in detail and accuracy.

The ideal candidate is one that has past multi-year traffic management operations experience with a proven excellence record as a TMC operator, self-motivated and has the drive to take on new initiatives and responsibilities.

Shift Supervisor Specific Responsibilities

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the TMC traffic management systems, procedures and software
  • Ability to understand and apply consistently Traffic Incident Management (TIM) procedures, contacting and reporting processes, coordination with other TMC partners, traffic surveillance, detection procedures and dispatching
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with TMC operators, supervisors, TMC partners and state government personnel
  • Ability to train, mentor and motivate TMC operators, along with the ability to produce training documentation
  • Ability to make decisions and responses in unprecedented situations
  • Ability to oversee all TMC functions and ensure the same level of service is upheld when the TMC Operations Manager is unavailable/out of town
  • High level experience in all Microsoft Windows applications, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and able to cover shifts and attend meetings when needed
