Kapsch TrafficCom currently has an outstanding opportunity for passionate and professional individuals looking to begin an exciting career in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
We currently have a full-time (40 hrs/week) opening for a Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator at the Gateway Guide Traffic Management Center.
Gateway Guide is located at 14301 S. Outer Forty Rd., Chesterfield, MO 63017
The work involves operating a variety of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and information systems on a multi-monitor computer workstation to monitor roadways for ongoing traffic incidents along with dispatching and coordinating with First Responders, disseminating traveler information, database entry and Customer Service.
The Gateway Guide TMC operates 24/7/365, which includes some weekend and holiday shifts. The current opening is for AM (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) & PM (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) shifts.
Starting pay is $19 hr.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn and perform the following duties though no prior TMC / ITS work experience is required:
- Candidate must have in-depth experience with Windows PCs and proficient in the use of a multi-monitor computer workstation with the ability to quickly enter and manage a real-time data entry database
- In-depth knowledge of St. Louis geography and roadway network
- Skills in interpersonal relationships and ability to work well within a diverse group
- Ability to coordinate real time activities and priorities
- Ability to assess traffic status, special events, scheduled events, active events, and incident fault status by utilizing CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras, Service Patrol reports, State Police reports, internal systems, etc.
- Assists with the data collection for various reports, travel speed and travel time reports, incident reports, field equipment failures, and any other reports that are provided by the Traffic Operations Center
- Ability to take calls, dispatch on a radio or telephone and otherwise communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Candidate must be able to pass a stringent background check
Education
High School or GED diploma is required, and a college degree is preferred or relatable job experience.
