The Role:
Kapsch TrafficCom North America is seeking a Field Service Technician for our office in Orlando, FL.
The Field Service Technician will perform routine preventative maintenance on the varied devices including but not limited to cameras, dynamic messaging signs, radar detection systems, data collection sites, video detection systems, demarcation, and network hub buildings.
In addition to preventative maintenance, the Field Service Technician will perform utility location of fiber optic cabling, and repair/fix of ITS devices such as microwave vehicle detectors, overhead messaging signs, cameras, and data network systems in and around Orlando, FL.

What we are looking for:
High School education, or preferably an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field
2 years of relevant work experience in an IT or electronics field
Ability to read schematics and follow specifications to maintain or install and implement system components
Ability to test client ITS devices and systems through physical inspection and the utilization of electronic testing and measurement equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and procedures
A proficient electrical skill able to diagnose and repair electrical issues related to ITS power distribution
Our top Candidates will have:
Ability to respond to utility locate request on a timely basis (as needed only when directed by the client)
Ability to locate fiber and power lines with utility locate equipment
Ability to read ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) Plans
Ability to maintain, Install, upgrade, modify or replace equipment as directed or required
Ability to perform reactive maintenance and repairs as needed
Ability to receive and input client inventory into the inventory software system
Ability to monitor trouble reporting system to ensure timely problem resolution in accordance with guidelines per contract
Ability to respond to and correct trouble ticket reports
Ability to keep accurate records of daily activities
Ability to monitor installations, including providing direction to contracted vendors
Ability to perform diagnosis of equipment problems with all devices on the project
Candidates should be aware that this role involves work that is outdoors and along the freeway. This role will also involve working on equipment located above the freeway. All safety equipment will be provided as well as extra precautions considering the heat.
