Vienna/Belgrade, February 27, 2017 – Viavi Solutions and Kapsch CarrierCom implemented a new solution to bring advanced geolocation optimisation to Telekom Srbija. This project tackled jointly by Kapsch and Viavi was finalised in February 2017.
The project brought unified visibility and customer-centric, geo-location intelligence across the entire radio access network (RAN) in order to optimise RAN planning and performance engineering. The application allows Telekom Srbija to capture, collect and analyse 100% of the subscriber sessions on a 24/7 basis in near real-time to gain deep insights about subscribers’ quality of experience, technology usage, device distribution & performance across different technologies of the network.
Deeper insights for better RAN planning and network performance at lower costs
Viavi and Kapsch offer a holistic, unfragmented view as grounds for network performance optimisation by following one simple idea: Every single subscriber functions as a drive-tester. This is achieved by enabling detailed call and event analysis on capacity usage and coverage white spots, indoors and outdoors. Viavi’s ariesoGEO application processes data from literally billions of mobile connection events, giving operators a rich source of intelligence to help boost performance and enrich the user experience. “Increasing reliability and performance of our network while using existing resources smarter is a major competitive advantage for us,” explains Filip Banković, CTO at Telekom Srbija. “The new solution allows us to bring our services to a next level – and optimises our cost structure at the very same time.”
The solution introduced in Serbia offers the potential reduction of both operational and capital expenditures. One can cut drive testing with the aim of replicating errors experienced by subscribers entirely. In addition, the solution secures and increases revenues for communication service providers as it allows for less revenue leakage, better VIP and corporate customer service, possibility to create new revenue streams by monetising gathered location-intelligence data, better performance from the existing network and a higher traffic offload on small cells. “The tool unlocks measurable business benefits for CSPs by offering deep network visibility and smarter usage of existing resources,” explains Thomas Schöpf, COO at Kapsch CarrierCom. “We know the business environment for operators is challenging. This is just a first step with a strong potential to extend our cooperation.”
Within the project for Telekom Srbija Kapsch CarrierCom was responsible for end-to-end project delivery – from project management, implementation to providing the geo-optimisation services based on the collected data. Kapsch is also providing mentoring and support to the client in order to introduce and demonstrate the full spectrum of powerful capabilities and benefits. This is to ensure the full utilisation of the solution potential.
