Kapsch City - City Charging

Kapsch City is a true open road tolling (ORT) charging and enforcement system for the urban area, where minimal, unobtrusive street furniture is desirable whilst being able to operate in congested, stop & go and undisciplined traffic (switching of lanes and overtaking within the system zone) conditions meeting the requirements of either passage-based or period-based charging schemes.

Kapsch City is based on a combination of ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) for enforcement and registering of occasional users and standards-compliant DSRC microwave communication to maximize accuracy and reliability of the charging system. For city streets a combination of DSRC and video-based charging is optimal.
