The Kapsch VDC is a unique, video based high performance system for detecting and measuring vehicles. The data produced by the VDC can be utilized for in-depth analysis of traffic, in real-time, such as for measurement of traffic throughput volume or for various traffic statistics.

The VDC is superior in managing high traffic volumes and traffic queues with stop & go behavior through the detection zone, due to the concept of tracking each vehicle through the complete detection zone of the camera sensor units. It is also very robust in regard to weather and light conditions.

The Kapsch VDC supplies data for each passing vehicle, such as position, size, speed, etc. Overview images captured by the measurement sensor camera can also be produced.
