Connected vehicles

Communication between vehicles and the infrastructure.

Identifying risky situations before they present a danger. Notifying motorists of highway work zones and traffic congestion before getting stuck in traffic. Using precise data to dynamically manage traffic. All of this becomes possible when road users are able to collect and share information with each other and wireless components of traffic management systems. Toll collection systems and city access solutions are the first steps in this process. Vehicles communicate with the infrastructure, supply data, and receive relevant information.

The next step is for all vehicles to be wirelessly connected. Numerous research programs and pilot projects are currently laying the groundwork for such a structured exchange of information and data processing.
