Kapsch CarrierCom has already implemented train safety systems using GSM-R technology throughout the world. Now the firm has won another contract from the Polish railway company PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.

End-to-end provider Kapsch CarrierCom adds terminal devices for railway communication to its portfolio.

As leader of the consortium, Thales has signed a contract with the Bulgarian railway infrastructure company NRIC to provide electronic signalling and telecommunication technology for the Sofia-Plovdiv railway line. Kapsch CarrierCom will deliver the GSM-R technology within this project.

Kapsch CarrierCom is expanding its range of products and services and now offering solutions for urban public transport. This all revolves around TETRA. In partnership with Dutch technology manufacturer Rohill Engineering B.V., Kapsch is to roll out complete solutions for public transport.

Kapsch CarrierCom today announced that it has been awarded the contract to maintain the entire GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) network on behalf of British railway infrastructure operator Network Rail. The multi-year agreement will see Kapsch supporting Network Rail’s control center team to ensure the highest levels of network availability, enabling higher frequency of train services and greater safety standards.

Kapsch CarrierCom successfully completes another project in Spain: Kapsch equipped 80 kilometers of the short-line network of the state railway operator Adif in Bilbao with the newest train safety and radio technology.

Kapsch CarrierCom demonstrated how the railway communication of the future will look at InnoTrans, one of the most important trade fairs for transportation technology in the world.

Consortium partners Siemens and Kapsch are equipping the 230 kilometers of newly constructed line running from Ebensfeld via Erfurt to Halle and Leipzig with Level 2 of the European Train Control System (ETCS).

With the acquisition of the remaining shares in the Croatian subsidiary Kapsch TIS d.o.o., Kapsch CarrierCom is further expanding its involvement in South-Eastern Europe.
