Kapsch CarrierCom will attend this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from 27 February to 1 March and present its end-to-end service to optimize the performance of existing networks of public operators. The company will demonstrate its solutions of network optimization on an exhibition space of 54 m² at stand 1F24 in hall 1.
Efficient bandwidth management and network stability are significant challenges for service providers. These are further complicated by the large increase in data traffic and data rates provided by new technologies, applications and markets such as machine-to-machine communication. If an average user today uploads and downloads approximately 0.15 GB of data per month, this data volume will increase to 1 GB monthly by the end of 2015. In order to meet these performance requirements, operators must optimize their network performance.
Broad optimization for complex systems: increase of power and stability
"Operators often face three issues when considering network optimization," explains Thomas Schöpf, Kapsch CarrierCom's COO. "First, the network infrastructure is quite often complex, having grown organically over time, and it contains elements from different suppliers. Secondly, the frequent upgrades of the various network elements still cause compatibility problems, which are often not evident at first glance. This also complicates the configuration of the network elements. Finally, the traffic increase due to new applications creates very specific demands on the transmission network." Schöpf continues: "That is why Kapsch carries out analysis of the whole network under actual scenarios. The following optimization comprises all components and layers of the infrastructure and enables an increase of performance and stability."
Precise analysis enables solutions for "hidden problems"
The use of advanced monitoring tools and the precise definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) enables the efficient analysis of an entire network system, and not just individual elements, as in conventional optimization processes. Hidden problems such as delays, constraints or errors can be identified with this methodology. Tools are used, which provide the operators real-time information concerning network traffic and potential problems. The planning and implementation of improvement actions are based on the result of a thorough network analysis. Well known operators in Western and Central Europe already rely on Kapsch's expertise in this area.
The world’s largest mobile telecommunications exhibition
The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the mobile sector’s venue par excellence. Product innovations, seminars as well as current industry trends will be discussed and presented. The congress is the leading exibition for mobile phones, mobile internet and mobile applications.
