Kapsch TrafficCom AG will again be appealing the decision on the Slovakian toll tender

The consortium of Kapsch TrafficCom will be making a formal appeal with the Slovakian Monopolies Commission regarding the setup and operation of the electronic lorry toll system. The client – the Slovakian road operator (NDS) – today informed Kapsch TrafficCom that the appeal made last week had been rejected.

The consortium was informed two weeks ago that it had been cut from the tendering process for the country-wide lorry toll system in Slovakia. Kapsch maintains that the “deficiencies” named by the client in the offer are still not justifiable from a legal and technical standpoint. Kapsch TrafficCom has already setup the Austrian and Czech lorry toll systems and is the technical and commercial operator of the Czech system. The company can point to more than 140 installed toll systems worldwide in 30 countries.

"Kapsch TrafficCom will use all legal means at its disposal to fight this decision. Our offer, in our opinion, meets the tender conditions and secures the Slovakian State the income that would be required to maintain and improve the road system infrastructure", explains Georg Kapsch, Chairman of the Board, Kapsch TrafficCom AG. "Therefore, we demand and expect that NDS will re-evaluate our offer".

The consortium for Kapsch TrafficCom will be making its appeal in 7 days with the Monopolies Commission. Its decision must then be made within 30 days.
