Kapsch TrafficCom Sweden again successful: new contract in Brisbane, Australia

Kapsch TrafficCom AB from Sweden, a subsidiary of Austrian company Kapsch TrafficCom AG, has been awarded a contract by Thiess John Holland, the design and construction contractor for the Airport Link and Northern Busway Project, to deliver an Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system worth over 9 million Euro, to the toll road concessionaire BrisConnections. The contract involves the installation of a fully electronic multi-lane free-flow tolling system on the Airport Link, a four-lane tunnel leading from Brisbane CBD to the Airport.

Kapsch TrafficCom will design construct and install this end-to-end Multi Lane Free Flow system consisting of road side infrastructure, back office systems and associated services.

André Laux, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom AB says "This award recognizes our impressive track record and our deliberate strategy of a strong long term presence in Australia. With this contract seven different operators of Multi-Lane Free-Flow toll road systems in Australia will be making use of Kapsch’s road side systems with 3 of them using both our road side and back office systems, giving us a unique leadership position".

To meet the needs of Brisbane’s rapidly rising population and growing north side communities, BrisConnections is delivering the AUD 4.8 billion Airport Link, Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) and Airport Roundabout Upgrade projects - Australia's largest road infrastructure project. Together they will keep traffic moving and offer a faster and easier way for motorists and public transport users to travel to and from the city and airport precinct.

Construction of the combined road and bus way solution has now commenced, with the overall project scheduled for completion early in 2012.
