Kapsch TrafficCom Sweden is to construct a toll system on the Hale Street Link together with partners Leighton Contractors and RiverCity Motorway. The companies act as a consortium and will design, implement and operate a modern traffic telematics system for Brisbane under the lead of Leighton Contractors. As the market leader in Australia when it comes to On-Board Units, Kapsch TrafficCom brings its comprehensive international experience in the field of traffic telematics to the consortium. The operation and maintenance of the system, which should be completed in 2010, has been handed over by the city of Brisbane to Leighton Contractors.
"We are delighted that the Brisbane city authorities have opted for our consortium when awarding this traffic telematics project. Together with Leighton Contractors and RiverCity Motorway, we will develop a toll system that is fully compatible with all other Australian toll solutions and meets the highest international standards in terms of safety, reliability and availability", explains Erwin Toplak, member of the board of Kapsch TrafficCom AG.
"The current toll project allows Kapsch TrafficCom to follow on seamlessly from the success stories of last year, when the company won a EUR 6.4 million order in Australia. Apart from numerous other reference projects, Kapsch TrafficCom also has a considerable market share in On-Board Units in Australia", according to André Laux, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom AB.
