Success in France: Kapsch TrafficCom secures four orders from major French road companies

Just over a year after being founded, Kapsch TrafficCom’s subsidiary Kapsch TrafficCom France has already succeeded in securing significant orders. Over the coming three years, Kapsch TrafficCom France will implement four orders for the biggest French road operators (Vinci, APRR and Sanef Groups) and the tag issuer Axxès. In total, Kapsch will supply over half a million on board units (OBUs) and related accessories to France for an order value of around € 10 million.

"Despite our many successes in other continents, Europe has lost none of its importance for us. To date, we have repeatedly supplied France with equipment for single lane ETC (electronic toll collection); these initial successes have highlighted opportunities for us in this market and led to the establishment of a Paris-based subsidiary. Naturally, we are delighted that the orders now secured confirm our analysis. In just a few weeks’ time, Kapsch TrafficCom on board units will be in use on the most important routes in France. According to our commitment for interoperability the OBUs are fully working for France and Spain", explains Erwin Toplak, Member of the Board, Kapsch TrafficCom AG. "With our extensive experience, we will support the French road operators in switching their systems to electronic toll collection for multi-lane free-flow over the coming years. We are also monitoring developments connected with the planned French ecotax truck-project and local city toll initiatives with great interest".

Kapsch TrafficCom France was founded in spring 2007, offering a combination of local employees with access to the comprehensive, worldwide Kapsch know-how and the company's high-quality products and solutions. The most recent orders for the major French road operators Vinci, APRR and Sanef Groups, and for the tag issuer Axxès, comprise over half a million OBUs and related accessories. Kapsch products are therefore set to be used on over 8,000km of French motorways. The orders will run for up to three years and include options for increases in the delivery quantities.
