"Recently Bergamo, now Cremona – the technical expertise and extensive worldwide experience of the two companies impress once again. Winning the tender in Cremona secures the status of Kapsch-Busi in Northern Italy. We are also counting on good chances of winning other upcoming City Access control projects in Italy", explains Viktor Hatwagner, Member of the Management Board at Kapsch-Busi.
Kapsch-Busi will implement the order placed by AEM Spa (Azienda Energetica Municipale Spa) Cremona together with partner company Famas System. Famas is an Italian specialist for traffic flow control and parking management systems and will implement a city information system, an access control system for car parks within the municipality as well as a parking guide system. Kapsch-Busi will take on the planning and implementation of construction activities (ten City Access control stations) and provide the implementation of roadside and central components. Kapsch-Busi will also connect the new system to the existing infrastructure and link the new access controls with the police systems currently in use in Italy. A special integration between Kapsch and Famas systems will provide detailed communication on regulations and opening times of the Zone Traffico Limitato (ZTL) in Cremona. In addition, Kapsch-Busi will be responsible for the technical operation and maintenance of the system for the next three years.
The installation of the control stations and commissioning of the new system will be completed by mid-December 2008 and followed by a one-month trial phase. During implementation, Kapsch-Busi will use the latest technology (cameras in conjunction with an integrated central system) to record road users who break the entry restrictions.
