ASFINAG follow-up order for Austrian truck tolling awarded to Kapsch TrafficCom

Kapsch TrafficCom AG has secured another order for Austria’s truck toll system worth EUR 14.4 million. The company will install a further 67 toll stations and make enhancements to the truck toll system in Austria.

"We are very pleased to have been able to bundle the complex requirements of ASFINAG regarding the further expansion of the truck toll system into a total service package and to reach a commercial agreement which covers this - even though this follows the declaration of cost savings requirements by ASFINAG", explains Thomas Reznicek, Area Manager of Kapsch TrafficCom for Austria and Switzerland. The company is, among other things, the installer of the Austrian and installer/operator of the Czech truck toll system.

Kapsch TrafficCom will install a further 67 toll stations under the follow-up order of ASFINAG Mautservice GmbH. Also included are six stationary control stations and several conversions due to the expansion of roadway cross sections. Kapsch has also been instructed by ASFINAG (the state corporation for financing roads and highways) to make enhancements to the Austrian truck toll system. For example, more than 200 sales points of the Austrian toll system will undergo a technical upgrade to the next generation of GO-Box personalisation stations in the coming months. The mobile inspection vehicles will also be supplied with software adaptations due to new customer requirements.

"This collaboration on enhancing the toll system is an important aspect of the forward-looking processing of truck and bus tolls in Austria. Reliability, increasing capacities in this area and the continued development of our facilities, for the purposes of maintaining a top-level service capability to the benefit of our customers, are essential requirements for ASFINAG. This is our philosophy behind the enhancement of these facilities and the collaboration with engineering companies such as Kapsch TrafficCom", explains Josef Fiala, Managing Director of ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH.
