500,000 On Board Units for Australia: Kapsch TrafficCom AG achieves further success in Australia by securing new order

Kapsch TrafficCom AG repeats its run of business wins in Australia as it is awarded an extensive contract: The company was recently able to secure a two-year contract with the toll operator Transurban for the delivery of 500,000 On Board Units (OBUs). Both parties to the contract have agreed to maintain secrecy with regard to the order value. This order underscores not only the global technological leadership of Kapsch in this field, but also consolidates its position as the clear market leader in Australia with a market share of well over 80%.

"Australia has been a model for traffic systems and fully-electronic toll systems for many years now. This is why we are all the more pleased that Kapsch TrafficCom is the clear market leader in precisely this exciting business region. Moreover, this repeat contract from our partner Transurban confirms Kapsch’s great expertise in the design and production of top-quality on-board units", declares Erwin Toplak, Member of the Board, TrafficCom AG.

The client, Transurban, operates five of the nine urban motorways in Sydney as well as the privately financed toll system of CityLink in Melbourne. Kapsch TrafficCom was chosen by Transurban because of its strong local presence in Australia and its high standard of service. The term of the current contract is 2 years (including an option to extend and/or increase the order volume).
