Kapsch City is a true Multi-Lane Free-Flow (MLFF) charging and enforcement system for the urban area, where minimal, unobtrusive street furniture is desirable whilst being able to operate in congested, stop & go and undisciplined traffic (switching of lanes and overtaking within the system zone) conditions meeting the requirements of either passage-based or period-based charging schemes.
Kapsch City is based on a combination of ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) for enforcement and registering of occasional users and DSRC microwave communication in compliance with the European CEN standard to maximize accuracy and reliability of the charging system. For city streets a combination of DSRC- and video-based charging is optimal.
