In electronic toll collection, interoperability means having standardized and compatible platforms on three levels: technical, contractual and operational. The objective of interoperability is to ensure that users equipped for an electronic toll collection system in a specific country or area can automatically be charged the toll due in other areas or countries, using one in-vehicle on-board device for this purpose.
As one of the industry‘s leading manufacturers of technology and systems for electronic fee collection systems, Kapsch TrafficCom is an active supporter of standardization efforts to further European and international goals of interoperability and in support of the planned European Electronic Toll Service (EETS). The company participates in a number of national and international committees as well as technical demonstrations and tests.
