„We are very proud to have the opportunity to accompany the mobilkom austria group into the next network generation. Our strong reputation as a leading system innovator is once again proven with this project“, said Thomas Schöpf, Member of the Kapsch CarrierCom AG Board of Directors. "Together with our long-standing partner Nortel, we are going to realize a new, highly reliable and secure network solution unique in Europe for the mobilkom austria group.“
In Austria, Slovenia and Liechtenstein, the new Release 4 Network Solution is based on Nortel hardware and software. Thus, the new ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) platform will be used as an operational Nortel MSC server for the first time in Europe. Kapsch CarrierCom will take the responsibility of the system implementation and system integration in the migration project for Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Austria. The migration to IP technology offers important advantages for the operator. By reducing the costs of maintenance and operations, as well as reducing the space and power requirements, this technology is considered to be more cost efficient. The 3GPP compliant Release 4 Network Solution offers the operator more flexibility regarding the regional processing of telecommunication data.
„For the mobilkom austria group, Kapsch and Nortel are the logical choice for the realization of this innovative project in Austria, Slovenia and Liechtenstein. Kapsch and Nortel are ideal partners because of their strong experience in this field, as well as the quality of the platform and the expertise of Kapsch as a system integrator. Our goal is to achieve high quality and cost-efficiency - with this solution we take another important step in this direction“, explains Bernhard Heimerl, Head of Group Purchasing of the mobilkom austria group services GmbH.
