The Communication Manager is an important component of the next-generation Avaya Aura ™ architecture. New products and components are grouped together under the new Avaya Aura product name to form a comprehensive unified communications solution. This simplifies purchase decisions, and permits scaling from 100 to nearly an unlimited number of users. The trendsetting Communication Manager software is now part of the Avaya Aura Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition packages. That means that a single licensing fee is enough to provide each user with all the features needed for a comprehensive customer solution.

The Avaya Aura Communication Manager can run on a variety of Linux media servers and offers centralized call control for a resistant distributed network of media gateways, and a large number of analog, digital, and IP-based communication units. It also has mature, integrated applications. These include mobility applications, call center features, and advanced conferencing features.
