Dr. Franz Semmernegg was born in 1968 in Wagna near Leibnitz. He studied Business Management at Karl-Franzens University in Graz, and in 1997 he obtained his doctorate as Doctor of Economics and Social Sciences.
After his studies, he was employed by the financial trust company Nidetzky from January 1993 to January 1996. His activities centred on tax advice, change of legal form, company valuation and financing.
In February 1996, Semmernegg was appointed Executive Assistant at Schrack Seconet AG, where he took on the task of reconstructing the German subsidiary Schrack Telecom GmbH. In September 1996, he was granted commercial power of attorney for Schrack Seconet AG. Starting in the beginning of 1997, Semmernegg took over Financing and Controlling at Schrack Seconet AG, and also set up an accounts department.
From March 1998 to August 1998, he was active as the Head of Reporting and Controlling at Ericsson Austria AG. Dr. Franz Semmernegg was then appointed Manager and authorized signatory for Finance and Controlling at Schrack Seconet AG. His activities centred on acquisition evaluation for the parent company, Securitas AG, in Switzerland.
Coming from the Finance and Controlling sector, Franz Semmernegg carried out one of the largest management buyouts in Austria in January 1999 together with Stefan Gubi, and founded Schrack BusinessCom AG.
At the beginning of 2001, Kapsch AG took a 74% share in Schrack BusinessCom, and since 1st January 2002 the company has been operating under the name of Kapsch BusinessCom AG.
At the end of 2001, Dr. Franz Semmernegg moved to the Managing Board of Kapsch AG, where he assumed responsibility for Finances. As of March 2003, Semmernegg is also Chief Financial Officer of Kapsch BusinessCom AG and a Member of the Management of the subsidiary Kapsch Anlagenvermietungs- und wartungs GmbH. In April of 2010 Franz Semmernegg became Chief Executive Officer of Kapsch BusinessCom.
