Kapsch TrafficCom is to file an objection against the awarding of tenders in connection with the realisation and operation of an electronic truck toll system for the Slovakian Republic. The consortium led by Kapsch TrafficCom was notified last week of having been eliminated from the tendering procedure for the countrywide electronic truck toll system to be set up in Slovakia. Current earnings from the levying of electronic tolls in the Czech Republic amounted to CZK 7.1 billion (around EUR 284 million) after 15 months of operation (since the beginning of 2007). This result was recently announced by the Czech Ministry of Transport. These earnings were mainly achieved on the basis of the perfectly functioning toll system installed and operated by Kapsch TrafficCom AG. This system is also contributing to a slight fall in the growth of traffic on Czech roads, despite the overall rising trend for Europe as a whole. [ ... more ]

Kapsch TrafficCom will equip Australia’s longest tunnel. In March 2008, the company was able to secure contracts with a project sum of more than 11 million Australian dollars (more than EUR 6.4 million). More specifically, Kapsch will supply the road side equipment as well as the central telematics system for the tolling in the North-South Bypass Tunnel in Brisbane. Since End of January 2008 runs the operation of the first road toll project of Kapsch TrafficCom AG in India with no problems. Within a joint venture structure - the Kapsch Metro Joint Venture - Kapsch TrafficCom alongside the Indian Metro Road Systems Ltd. fitted one section of the National Highway No. 8 with a modern manual/electronic toll system. This highway covers the route from Delhi to Gurgaon and is one of the most frequented roads in the region. The central toll plaza with altogether 32 toll lanes is one of the largest toll stations in all of Asia. [ ... more ]
