Vienna, 20 June 2012 – Together with its partner NETAVIS, Kapsch has installed a video surveillance system at the 2012 Danube Island Festival (Donauinselfest) thereby making a significant contribution to safety and security at Europe's largest, and free, open-air festival. The video surveillance enables the organisers and security personnel to direct the flows of visitors throughout the entire festival area in the best possible way.

"This way, security personnel obtain a comprehensive and real-time picture of visitor movements, and can intervene quickly to direct them." The know-how offered by Kapsch is now being deployed for the second time. An analysis of the Danube Island Festival last year revealed that the assessment of the emergency services regarding safety at the festival was very positive.
A total of 27 HD cameras are in use, all connected using Observer, the server-based IP monitoring solution of NETAVIS. This scalable software platform was successfully used last year, too. The zoom and swivel-mounted cameras are installed on stages, information points and bridges, and monitor the flows of visitors to and from the event, the paths, crossroads and the spectator areas. The event organisers can watch the pictures live on two multi-screen clients – two 40-inch monitors – and three single-screen clients. Kapsch has also supplied five single-screen clients for the security personnel of the police. The data is transmitted via Wi-Fi.
