In 2010 Kapsch supplied the cabling and network/telephony infrastructure for the new headquarter of Österreichische Volksbanken AG and is now responsible for servicing this equipment. Stepping up cooperation thus allows the two companies to continue their successful partnership. "During ÖVAG's redimensioning phase we need a stable IT service provider who is capable of accompanying us along this path. It is our objective to immediately realize savings while simultaneously reducing IT risks in operation. In Kapsch we have the perfect partner who is able to support us on a long-term basis," comments Hans Stögerer, IT section head at ÖVAG.
Implementation of extensive ICT infrastructure and new operational management
"For companies it is vital to work with external IT service providers who can contribute their expertise and offer the best possible resources. Extensive knowledge of different areas such as voice, IT, networks and security as well as the joint development of a long-term, customized concept with the client create the trust necessary for transferring operational responsibility. We are delighted that, after weighing up these factors, Österreichische Volksbanken AG has opted for Kapsch BusinessCom," remarks Jochen Borenich, MBA, managing board member of Kapsch BusinessCom AG. "Following Elin, Gas Connect Austria (part of the OMV Group) and Mediaprint, yet another blue-chip Austrian firm has now been added to our list of clients who call on our expertise for advice about operational management and long-term support for their ICT."
In its initial phase the outsourcing contract includes the takeover of staff as well as the development of the necessary structures for the successful provision of services by Kapsch. One crucial aspect of this phase is to maintain cooperation with ÖVAG's existing partners to ensure that the process goes smoothly. With this aim in mind Kapsch BusinessCom has already drawn up a transition plan to prevent any breakdown in services going beyond the takeover of operations. Once Kapsch has assumed operational management, it will then be responsible for tasks such as user helpdesk, client support, server and storage support and the operational management of network, telephony and WAN infrastructure. This will be followed by the migration of IT systems to the shared environment at Kapsch's earthDATAsafe facility in Kapfenberg. The IT services for Österreichische Volksbanken AG will then be provided from one of Europe's most secure data centers.
