Vienna, June 4, 2012 – Kapsch and Grayling Poland won a SABRE Gold Award at the EMEA SABRE Awards Gala 2012 in Brussels on Thursday evening. The award-winning project: "viaTOLL: an electronic toll collection system for Poland."
The electronic toll collection system viaTOLL realized by Kapsch TrafficCom for vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons was implemented in a record time of only 8 months and went live in July 2011. Together with Grayling Poland, Kapsch TrafficCom was also responsible for the communication campaign that accompanied the introduction of the new toll collection system. This successful campaign was based on intensive media work and integrated PR and marketing activities in Poland and throughout 7 neighboring countries.
"Within a very short time, we were able to implement a comprehensive and state-of-the-art electronic toll collection solution for Poland that currently covers the country’s existing road network of approximately 1,560 kilometers. We are delighted that the successful communication campaign for viaTOLL jointly realized with Grayling has been honored with the Gold SABRE Award, one of the most prestigious international PR industry awards," explained Alf Netek, MA, CMO of the Kapsch Group.
For the next 8 years, Kapsch TrafficCom consortium will also be responsible for the commercial operation of the viaTOLL system through its Polish operating company and will continue to extend the system to cover additional roads during this period. In addition to announcing the commercial launch of the electronic toll collection system, the main objective of the PR campaign was to generate public interest around its introduction.
