Zone Access is a traffic management tool used typically in urban areas where it is necessary to restrict access or grant permission to a limited number of vehicles for example, access to historic city centers, pedestrian zones, gated communities or security-related restricted areas. These can be equipped with an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system and/or with On-Board Units (OBUs) and transceiver to automatically control access. For identified vehicles entry to the area can be enabled by gates or rising bollards, for example.
