Security for data networks

In our fast-moving time, in which it is vital to exchange or to procure information via any media and at any hour (anywhere, anyhow, anytime), security is an integral part of corporate networks. Security is closely connected to the particular requirements of the users and the company profile.

Requirements such as stable and easily maintainable computer operation, stable internet presence, easy handling for the users are the issue. But, in addition to the "classic" security measures in the network of a company, measures such as data protection, access control and, above all, training the employees in order to sensitize the security issue in the corporate network, are often not considered.

According to studies, more than 2/3 of all security problems are caused by a company's own employees – either out of ignorance or out of malice. Network administrators are overburdened most of the time, so that there is (almost) no time left for security aspects. A further problem is the employees' nonexistent consciousness of guilt (illegal copies) and the lack of adequate information for them.

There are many dangers, the most important ones are computer viruses/worms, mail server breakdown, no or insufficient data protection, attacks by amateurs or professionals (hacking, social engineering, cracking, Trojans, DOS-attacks,..), but also fire, theft (laptop without data encryption), non-existing access control, interruption-free power supplies, missing air-conditioning in computer rooms and many more.

In addition, the browser-manufacturers are already warning of "new" technologies, such as Java, Javascript and ActiveX, for when these features are activated programs from the WWW can be started on the desktop and consequently in the network, without knowing their contents. Unfortunately, many critical applications are also based on Javascript-applications (e.g.: Netbanking...).

Kapsch BusinessCom helps you to detect your security gaps, to establish security rules (policies) and to implement and to service your custom-made security solution.
